Fall News

We have been keeping busy staying at home this month. Limited by Andrew's leg we have been trying to do things at home. Plus there hasn't been a lot to do around town. Home schooling is going great. Sarah is already recognizing letters and sounds. Andrew is reading really well and continues to tell me that he already knows concepts we go over because he learned them in kindergarten. Makes lessons easy, though he does seem to get frustrated when he doesn't know something. I keep trying to tell him that it sometimes takes practice to learn something. I can identify with him though as I was the same way. It takes time to learn you can't be perfect at everything the first time.

Elizabeth keeps busy during the day playing with her dolls and looking through books. She may be the bookworm I have hoped for. She loves to read and be read to. She also occupies her time stealing our dry erase markers and writing on herself, her stomach, clothes and the floor. She did this the other day and thinking I had wiped off all of the marker we went to the farmers market in town only to have her pull up her shirt in front of one of the merchants to show off her "art" on her belly. Still makes me chuckle.

Andrew, when we aren't doing school, plays with his legos and kinex. He loves building new things and showing them off (see the picture below). He has also discovered "Hank the Cowdog." If you are not familiar with this series I recommend them. They are chapter books, but all the books are on audio read by the author, John Erickson. They are stories from a Cowdog's perspective and are really funny. We keep checking them out from the library only to listen to them hundreds of times before we have to return them. While at the thrift store recently I found 32 of the books so we have been reading the one's we haven't listened to during school. He is up to volume 54, so there are many adventures yet to be discovered.

Here are some pictures of the kids. Sarah is so affectionate and loves to hug and kiss Andrew, Elizabeth, Patrick and myself. Such a sweet girl.
