Denver Trip 1

Hello~ all my friends out at cyber-land. I know I have not been the greatest blogger. Maybe I should resolve to be a better one this new year. But until then I'll just update you on our recent trip to Denver. Patrick has been traveling up there for 3 weeks for his job, and was going to be gone for another 2 weeks so we decided since we home school we would go to Denver with him. Thanks to his company paying for the hotel and car we were able to go and only pay for our food. Such a blessing. We had a lot of hands on field trips and a lot of fun. If I had not forgotten my camera cord I could have done this while we were there, and updated daily, but as it is I'll just do a big blog entry with lots of descriptions and pictures.

Day 1~ Spent driving to Albuquerque, NM and visiting my parents.
Day 2~ Drove from Albuquerque, NM to Denver, CO
Day 3~ Was spent exploring around our hotel. The Super Target across the street from our hotel was fantastic. The area (Westminster, CO just north of Denver) was filled with meandering streams (seen in the picture below from outside our hotel) bike paths and prairie dogs. The area also had lots of lakes and beautiful mountain views. So much fun! I loved the area. We even got snowed on a couple of times while we were there.

Out in front of the Super Target there were these beautiful elk statues.

Day 4~ We ventured into downtown Denver to explore the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. We spent all day exploring all their exhibits. Some highlights included seeing some actual mummies. We have been studying Egypt and had to see the mummies. They had a lot of dinosaur bones and a great human body exhibit. We learned a lot and this trip was definitely a highlight of our whole trip.

Day 5~ We spent the day shopping at the local malls and exploring all the parks in the area.
Day 6~ I went to visit an old friend and had a lovely day catching up. So neat to see that even after all this time we still had so much in common.
Day 7~ Spent the day in Boulder CO. We explored Pearl Street and toured the local Celestial Seasonings Tea factory. Sampled all the tea we could and the kids and Patrick took a tour of the factory. Elizabeth was too young and she fell asleep during the movie about their history so we stayed behind and drank more tea. Very informative and makes me love their tea even more.
Some place in Boulder. Thought it was pretty.

Patrick and I thanks to Andrew taking our picture.

Pearl Street has a lot of statues to take pictures with.
