Hiking

This last April we decided to get a family pass to Ramsey Canyon, a local preserve in the mountains near our house that offers great hiking, and a lot of animals to look at. We have been going about once a week and the kids love it. We usually see deer, squirrels, lizards, lots of birds ( this preserve is known worldwide I guess for birding..something I just found out) and a turkey or two on occasion. There is a stream that goes down the whole canyon which the kids enjoy floating whatever they can find down it or throwing rocks in it. It is nice to get away from the heat, and an added bonus it is only about 7 minutes from where we live. Today I actually remembered my camera, so here are some pictures of our adventure.
Here is Andrew floating a piece of bark and a round seed pod down the river. The seed pod is at the end of the stick.

Elizabeth stretching her legs after sitting for the hike...she has it easy

Andrew posing

I'm attempting to get a picture of myself and Elizabeth, I'm not great at it though.

Andrew and Sarah posing on a rock. Andrew wanted to make sure that his leg was on the rock because he thought it looked cool. Here is Sarah on one of the bridges. I wanted her to sit on the bridge because I thought it would make a cute picture but she was convinced it was going to fall if she did, so here she is looking scared to sit on the bridge.

And some of the local wildlife. We actually saw about 7-10 deer today. As well as a squirrels convention. There were about 10-12 squirrels running around and up and down trees all at once. They were really entertaining.
